For decades Harry Potter has entranced children and adults alike creating a magical sense of adventure and imagination. “Aside from these and other slight deviations, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (known as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States), is remarkably faithful to its source text,”(Joffe). There are many different opinions for people who like the book better and people who like the movie better. I believe the book was higher quality based on facts presented the book was more in depth with characters and emotions also more detail based on the plot was given and wasn’t so rushed, the thing that was creative about the movie and not the book was some little details to make a better character choice. So as a result the book has more of a creative base than the movie. Characterization is a big part in any story or movie based on choices made and on imagination. In the book Snape is portrayed as a 32 year old man who were supposed to have black eyes like Hagrid, but the movie cast him as a 55 year old man with no emotional connection and regular looking eyes. Something that has been noticed is that in the book time does not seem to be an issue but in the movie things seem to get rushed; the plot for instance. “In the movies, though, Ginny doesn't get enough screen time to show her fantastic personality, and the screen time she does get only revolves around Harry. Which the movie couldn't even capture perfectly, because their book first kiss was epic and should NOT have been changed,”(Seales). Toward the beginning of the movie everything seems to be rushed and more focused on Harry at Hogwarts, while the book focused on the secret of Harry being a wizard until page 55 when the plot final gets started.
