“Our politics reflect our values” - Barack Obama, this quote can relate to our christian value of justice. As Christians, we see justice in a different way than a pomo worldview would. We see justice as a byproduct of God himself, Paul Louis Metzger defines this like, “Justice flows from God's heart and character. As true and good, God seeks to make the object of his holy love whole. This is what motivates God throughout the Old and New Testaments in his judgments on sin and injustice. These judgments are both individual and corporate in scope.”. Although these views expressed in this paper are solely opinionated, there are many things that influence my belief on justice like the in class lectures, the Power Made Perfect book by Timothy Sherratt, …show more content…

In the scripture provided in the Biblical Justice handout it gives insight into the understanding of the source of biblical justice and its characteristics, the obligation to government, political authority under christ, and public policy as well as public justice. The first portion of the Biblical Justice handout talks about its source and characteristics, a point that is heavily made in the scripture is that God IS justice, in Isaiah 30:18 the scripture reads, “Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.”. God does not simply admire justice, as one might admire a fine painting, God’s love for justice is the love of one who does justice; God is just. The Lord works vindication and justice for all who are oppressed, we sing when we bless the Lord with the words of psalm 103:6 hen we cry for deliverance with the words of psalm 140:12 say, I know the Lord maintains the cause of the afflicted, and executes justice for the needy.” . This answers a question in which we discussed in class, “How important is justice to God?”. Justice is imperative to the understanding of God himself, He is justice and without that idea there would be virtually no point in God. Another question that we answered in class after reading the text was, “Why does God love justice?”, God not only loves justice because it is him, but it reaffirms his will for his followers. In the earlier scripture it says, “Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.”. He wants his followers to learn, and teach his ways from his own words. Wolterstorff says, God’s love for justice is grounded in God’s love for each and every one of His human creatures.
