The Progressive Era took place in 1890 to 1920. The Progressive Era started as a social movement and started to grow into a political movement. They also did not believe in social Darwinism. They believed that the worlds problems that society faced "(poverty, violence, greed, racism, class warfare)" could be prevented by having safe environments to live in, having a great education, and an efficient place to work. The "Progressives" usually lived in the big cities.

This caused for an increase in disagreements about the progressive reform. The ideas that the three historians had in the readings were quite interesting and they will cause people to rethink who the progressives really were. Joseph Huthmacher presented the idea in Urban Liberalism and the Act of Reform that people of the workforce that demanded for workmen’s compensation and wage laws were behind progressivism.
Prior to 1890 to 1920, it marked a significant period of political change in the nation. Progressives implemented several changes at the municipal, state, and federal levels. They were led by reform-minded people who addressed the political, social, and economic injustices of the Gilded Era. A push for social and political reform, the emergence of numerous grassroots organizations, and political initiatives targeted at resolving the social and economic issues confronting the US were the hallmarks of this age.
The Progressive movement was caused corruption in politics, political machines, rapid urbanization and discrimination and equality. The Progressive movement was based on the idea that the government should have a more active role in solving economic ills. The Progressives wanted to promote child labor laws, improve the efficiency of government, expand democracy and promote social justice. The Progressives believed in progression. As in progression into a fairer society.
The Progressive Era was a movement that brought about significant changes in social and political reform in the country in the early 1900s. The Great Depression was an economic crisis that affected the country for a decade and was challenging. Although both periods were concerned with creating better living conditions for the people and repairing the country after World War I, they had different views on government policies, the production of goods, and labor movements. Political reform during the Progressive Era was fixing the problems created by the industrialization of America. During this time, the presidents used government reforms to restore the country, which further corrupted the country and introduced more problems.

The Progressive Era, from 1900-1917, was a time when problems were solved, tactics were used to solve them, and foundations were laid for future reforms. During this time, steps and precautions were laid that regulated business, rights, government, and life as we know it. A major goal of this time was the exploitation of the corrupt aspects of the government. After the goals and reforms were met during this time, America became better and better in the eyes of reform groups and activists.
The Progressive Era occurred during the 1890s to the 1920s, during this time there was an urge to create a better social and political life for Americans. 15 million immigrants traveling from all different parts of the world arrived here in the United States (https://www.loc.gov). The Progressive Era The Progressive Era was a time when America had begun a thirst for change in its government as well as its people. Politicians wanted a more modern government that searched to answer the social problems that were arising with the many new and old immigrants that no resided in the U.S. On the other hand, workers demanded more rights in the workplace and better-working conditions. Women wanted to look for new activities outside the home because a life inside a home was becoming dull to them. Progressives during this era were striving for progress in their government and were very diverse in how they obtained this change.
Reform movements of the Progressive Era changed the importance of America in every other aspect of life. Starting from birth control reforms to government reform and many others who’d brought a new wave of prosperity in this country. I would like to share my views about the Educational reforms of progressive era, because the progressives of that time worked really hard to reform and rejuvenate the school, college at council level. The most important fact of this era was the expansion in number of schools and student, especially in the fast flourishing metropolitan cities. Furthermore in the late 19th century most southern children especially living in rural areas received more than an elementary education.
The many goals of this settlement house would be to “assimilate and ease the transition of immigrants into the labor force by teaching them middle class American values” and “…provide social services to families who are unable to afford daycare centers and various necessities”. Following the opening of numerous settlement houses, I would guarantee you that I will express my journey and findings in a book to which I would name “Twenty Years at Hull House”.
During the progressive era our country faced many problems. The rise of substantial businesses caused industrial problems. Women suffrage, alcohol, child labor, and safety issues caused social problems. The necessitation of citizens in government decisions also caused political problems. Progressives were people who wanted to solve all of these quandaries.
Welfare for Americans is a topic that many people have numerous of different opinions about. During the Progressive Era, Socialism never was a big part of the United States. There was a lot of criticism toward socialism, but because of the criticism the industrial economy gained a lot of attention in the early twentieth century. Eugene V. Debs was one of the prominent socialists during this time and he helped organize a Socialists Party to attract more people to have the vison of socialism. Most progressives were individualists, because they thought of socialist ideas as drastic, but through the decades the party one many elections.
The progressive era which lasted from 1890-1920 in American society was the institution of radical reforms brought about by the millions of Americans involved in volunteer organizations across the country. During this time Americans worked to create solutions to the problems caused by the rapid industrialization and urbanization of the country. The progressive era was not a single movement, but rather a collection of movements all of which were intended to improve the lives of Americans. This was a truly remarkable time for women and the end of the era would see almost universal women’s suffrage with the passing of the nineteenth amendment in 1920.
