There was a time in which I made a wrong decision, and that was trusting a General Agent in our agency in regards to current relationships that I had built during my time with the agency. This General Agent went behind my back and pulled my contacts that I had with a broker in Florida and convinced the broker that I was not the Agent over one of the life insurance policies that was written by myself at a Union (Cooper Tire in Texarkana, AR.) This life insurance policy I wrote was to result in four payments to me, one payment every quarter in the amount of $1001.50 each. However, there was some greed going on within the agency and a "good ole' boy " persuasion to one of the brokers in this Florida brokerage firm. The General Agent basically offered me the check in return for him getting a portion of the check and when I turned the check over, I noticed that he had already tried to deposit it, but my bank wouldn't accept it without my signature. The General Agent felt that since this life insurance policy was written during my time within the agency that he should get a portion of it. My contract was through the life insurance company and some it did go to the Florida Broker, but it was to never be allocated to this agency, according to my contract with the agency because it was not set up in that manner. Anyway, to make a long story short, I should have never trusted this General Agent and actually should have had him prosecuted, but just so you know, I did get the fourth payment and then filed a report to the Florida Insurance Commission about this fraud that took place and I let them do all the prosecuting.
