The death penalty is one of the most controversial topics throughout the United States we should start with what exactly is the death penalty. The death penalty can be presented in multiple forms such as lethal injection, gas chamber, or firing squad force. These forms are used to execute someone for their horrific crime or crimes on society, and see’s them as forever being a danger. For the most part people generally lean toward abolishing the death penalty because of the increase of cost than any other type of imprisonment and there has been cases where the authorities have falsely convicted the wrong person.

Generally speaking when conducting the death penalty it cost more money than any other type imprisonment. When conducting the death penalty it cost an estimate of 1.5 million dollars verus a life sentence which would cost an estimate of 740,000 dollars. Firstly the death penalty is so expensive because of the amount of time it takes in the courtroom trying to convict the person. This process can take many years before sending the convict as a death row prisoner and also factors that goes into the process of putting someone to death such as the lethal injection and other expenses. Lastly the mistake of convicting the wrong person occurs because of system errors or mistake made by a person. “No system of justice can produce results which are 100% certain all the time. Mistakes will be made in any system which relies upon human testimony for proof” written by ( Steven D. Stewart, JD). This statement is very true mistake do take place no matter what you do but the law enforcement hasn’t had a case of an innocent person being sent to execution since 1972 and through the use of law enforcement technological they have release approximately 40+ innocent death row inmates per
