Abortions remain one of the most controversial issues in the United States and around the world. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, abortion is defined as "The termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus." Amongst all the arguments that arise during heated debate of abortion, the three main points that should awaken every pro-choice representative are the medical complications later in life after abortion, the frequent causes of intense psychological pain and stress, and some alternative to abortion. As a Christian woman, abortion is considered murder/evil doing and shouldn’t be practice. Growing up, my church instilled in me that everyone is responsible for their action; unprotected sex leads to pregnancies. My religious upbringing combined with my cultural beliefs made me view abortion as an act of abomination that should be illegal. On the other hand, as my perception started to expand, my view of abortion started to change. I put myself in the shoe of a sixteen year old female or a woman who was rape; would I want to keep the child of my rapist? One personal experience that occurred about two years ago was with a pro-lifer explaining to a friend of mine, who was contemplating whether to abort or keep her baby, the risks of having an abortion. A couple of month after the baby, my friend and I went back to the pro-life institution for some financial assistance to care for the baby and to our surprised was denied.
