The Pros And Cons Of Banning Books

189 Words1 Pages
Why do people ban books? Banned books are books that parents, teachers, schools, and local legislature challenge, which are sometimes taken off of shelves for including graphic language, sex, drinking, drugs, and profanity. Books shouldn’t be banned for all children. I believe that if parents have a problem with a book, then they should just ban it for their own children. What parents consider to be bad “varies and depends on their unique situation, family and values”(PABBIS). It’s unfair for other children that want to read these books who aren’t be able to. I also believe that children should be able to read whatever they want to read. Sometimes "adults have to kind of suck it up” because they can’t control the world(Laurie Halse Anderson).
