Do you agree with the fact that children are reading books that have been known to contain harmful and racist ideas? There have been notable authors like Ronald Dahl or Dr. Suess whose books contain not only racism but also harmful and inappropriate words towards children. This is why books should be banned or censored under circumstances. Some of the reasons are because they contain harmful and inappropriate language that is not good for children, contain racist ideas that would obviously not be good for children, and even though that books should be banned it should only under extreme circumstances like the ones mentioned for the reasoning.

A quote to prove this would be “Dahl's books should be left to “fade away”. This quote means that if people do not read his books they can stop reading them and they would just go away if nobody reads them. This would have a connection to the main idea as it says that if people do not like the books then they would be eventually left to be forgotten. This also has no reason to fully ban them as if people do not like them they can just stop reading them. Another quote to prove this reason is “Millions of older editions are circulation in schools, libraries, second-hand stores and elsewhere” This would establish a connection to the main idea because even if they did ban the books it would be pointless as millions of these books would still be around and is hard to gather over a million books over the years. Another quote to prove this reason is “Language changes over time… children should be encouraged to pick up alternative authors”. This would connect to the main idea because it says that children should read different authors and the quote does not say anything about banning the book itself. All 3 points stated a reason why books should not be banned. They all proved that books would have other alternatives to get people to stop reading them like if people do not like the books they can just fade away, or children can just read a different
