Despite record high temperatures, increased inclement weather, declining sea ice, and receding glaciers around the word, climate change continues to be an intense debate. Even with scientific research, confirming climate change is mainly the result of humans, there are still skeptics that question the evidence. Some individuals do not believe that climate change exist. The argument is supported by making accusations towards scientists that climate change research is being corrupted by the government. These same skeptics find fault in the historical data used to graph things like glacial loss and hurricane frequency. “Although weather data…have been actively collected since 1850, it wasn't until the relatively recent access to detailed weather …show more content…
Leachates are the combination of snow/rain water and the harmful toxins produced from landfills. These leachates penetrate into the top layer of the soil and can even reach deep enough to the groundwater. Many issues arise in ecosystems from these leachates and it’s very difficult to protect landfills from the changing weather. The main 2 ways waste is taken care of is landfills and incineration. Incineration eliminates most waste, but it is very expensive and uses dioxins. Dioxins have also been proved to cause cancer (Row, 2010). Not only does incineration use dioxins, it also emits elevated levels of carbon dioxide, which aid in the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. While incineration emits carbon dioxide, landfills are giving off methane gas. Both of these chemicals contribute to the growing issue of global warming. People that live or work near landfills and incinerators are at a much higher risk for developing the health issues that were discussed earlier. All of these concerns should prompt society to address this quickly growing problem.
A huge issue with why waste is increasing with a decrease in oil prices is America's mindset. How often have you seen trash on the side of the road? Most people have the thought process of them just being one person littering or not recycling. Each person thinking like

Although not all waste can be eliminated from our country, many actions can be done to prevent a huge portion of it. Creating a more money conscious America and having them start by spending less and saving more will be a start to decreasing waste. Requiring recycling companies in each city will also be a huge pillar to decreasing the waste issues. By making individuals aware of the correlation of fuel prices, waste increases, and changing their mindset we can start to improve the waste. Therefore creating a better life for not only the current population, but also for generations to
