The Pros And Cons Of Climate Change

1580 Words7 Pages

We have a single mission, to protect and hand on the world to the next generation” (francis holland president of france). If this is our mission then mankind might just be failing. Over the past 50-60 years mankind has made great strides in environmental science. Throughout those years they discovered just how big of a problem climate change can be. The combined effects of global warming and sea levels rising prove the colossal threat that climate change puts on mankind and the animal kingdom. The signs of environmental catastrophe by climate change cannot be overlooked.Climate change is a problem because of how it has caused global warming to accelerate, the sea levels to rise, and animal habitat destruction.

most of the gas that is causing global warming is not CO2 like environmental scientists had originally presumed. Methane is stronger and more abundant than CO2, in fact, the gas methane is 30% “better” at warming the earth faster than CO2. with more methane being released into the air, the earth's atmosphere is believed to be warming 12x faster than expected. most of the methane release is due to fracking. Fracking, in definition, is the process of injecting liquid at very high pressure into subterranean rocks in order to force open already existing fissures and extracting the natural gas. Burning the natural gas will lead to the release of co2 and methane. The colossal amount of methane that is released from fracking is drastically increasing the speed of global warming. the natural gas extracted from fracking does not even need to be burned to release methane, the natural gas that escapes from the ground whilst fracking still will get trapped in the atmosphere and cause the earth to warm. Not all of the worlds global warming is because of fracking, a lot of the
