According to the U.S. Geological Survey, of the 48 earthquake prone states, Oklahoma tops the charts and the reasons seem to be manmade. (Magnitude 5.8 Earthquake in Oklahoma). Oil and gas drilling has shook Oklahoma, in the literal sense. Nearly a thousand earthquakes affected the state last year, and consistently caused damage in many regions. Many fingers are being pointed at oil and gas industries along with hydraulic fracturing, otherwise known as fracking. What goes most unnoticed is the amount of damage that is being done by these oil dwellings. Fracking is a common technique used in order to grasp oil and gas from deep below the earth’s surface (EARTHWORKS | Hydraulic Fracturing 101). This tactic is to stimulate natural gas, geothermal …show more content…

Even though other gains are pointed out, the main viewpoint is the price value. The entire idea of fracking was established as an easier way to extract oil in order to make it an even more valuable resource. Pressure driven, fracking has been viewed as one of the key techniques for separating alternative oil and gas assets. Researchers are stressed that the chemicals utilized as a part of it all may represent a danger either underground or when extracted liquids are dealt with would more than likely be spilled at first glance here and there. There are more than enough downsides to fracking. It’s biggest playout would have to be safety, which is what affects our environment and society the most. The main idea that we must question is whether our profit is more important than our very own safety. Many aspects combined add up to the amount of danger that could be analyzed for future precaution. The effects of oil drilling and hydraulic fracturing include earthquakes, water contamination, and plenty of other environmental …show more content…

If we want to speak on behalf of the economical standard, I’ve set an interview with an ex-employer of Devon Energy, Ameen Salous. My interview ended in us justifying that fracking so not be stopped because it is impacting our economy positively. When asked how is fracking negative, I was educated by the topics of water contamination and pollution. Water contamination occurs when the chemicals such as methane are released into the water that the action of fracking needs in order to properly do the job. The puncture of rocks also opens up a door for pollution as chemicals surely do flow into the fracks of the earth. The fact that water used for fracking is removed from our water supply is an extreme problem, especially in western states such as Oklahoma. Mr. Salous does not believe that fracking greatly affects climate change or global warming but believes there could be some sort of impact towards it. When we look back to methane, it is released into the air and is known as a very toxic greenhouse gas. Methane is very potent and gets trapped in our air bubbles at ease, even easier
