College is a place to educate those for higher learning. In other words everyone should have some sense of professionalism. Your typical college is supposed to be a Safe, cautious environment where Students follow the rules and handbook, but Tyler Junior College is not the typical college. Every College has their fair shares of problems but it seems that Tyler junior college will not try to keep the rule breaking under control or enforce new rules. When hearing about problems inside most of the class rooms in this day and age, what is the most common issue that is brought to everyone’s attention?
As I look back on my journey to college, I faced many different problems and disadvantages even before taking my first steps on campus. In Linda Banks-Santilli’s “Guilt is one of the biggest struggles first-generation college students face” many first generation students view being the first one in the family as a major flaw before entering college (Banks-Santilli, 2015, Par. 4 &7). The lack of self-respect makes it difficult for students to achieve success without help or motivation. The students have to change their viewpoint about being the first to go to college in their family as a weakness and make it a strength to help motivate them to be better students.
Being a first-generation college student consistently differentiates me from my academic community. Most of the students in my AP courses are very knowledgeable about their intended college because of their parents’ collegiate backgrounds. Since neither of my parents attended college, I didn’t even know there were applications and reviewing processes until 10th grade. Being a first-generation college student is a very interesting journey; you are forced to discover things yourself through exploration while maximizing every resource you have. After learning the power a diploma from a good institution carried, attending a successful university that met my interests became my primary goal.
While many applicants and parents may find themselves on the outside looking in after the college admissions season, for many top state universities, community college is an excellent end-around into school, with many offering automatic admission based on GPA. Community colleges have particular leverage among many elite public universities such as Berkeley and UCLA where upwards of 20 percent of the undergraduates come from community colleges. Second, all schools allow their applicants an out of a binding admission if they can demonstrate that they cannot afford to attend.
The wall decals are impressive options for bedrooms, especially for kids. Often times when it comes to summer, so many people decide to redesign the interiors of their home. Changes are always good and redesigning rooms is a way of changing energy in the room. Decals are a perfect choice for designing the walls.
I understand that transitioning to college is difficult and challenging for many, however, I hope to rely upon my consistent positive attitude to help new students look through a fresh lens focused on the excitement of all Villanova has to offer socially, academically, and spiritually. I have a unique ability to make those around me feel comfortable and welcomed because I value self-worth. This skill, in tandem with my optimism enables me to carry friends through difficult times, as well as to celebrate their most excellent moments. I
Transitioning from high school to Middle College requires a surplus of mental strength. In order to successfully transition to Middle College I had stop relying on others and become independent. At first, the thought of leaving my friends and being alone in a new school on a college campus, filled with many students is considered immensely frightening. However, I was
Have you ever wondered why there cannot be more hours in the day to do any work? As a sophomore at FHS I believe everyday is a battle against the clock to finish all my assignments before very intimidating deadlines and due dates. “According to an article published in the US News, “Schools are giving too much homework, high school students are getting up to 17.5 hours of homework a week and teacher are expecting students to get it all done in one night.” (letters2president.org). Implementing a study hall period for all students can really improve FHS because many students would have time to receive help from their teachers on assignments they require assistance on and students involved in extracurricular activities would have a much needed
College is one of the most significant times in a person’s life. Every year high school kids will visit many different colleges so that they can be confident in their college decision. Some kids will follow in their parent’s foot steps and base their decision on where their mom or dad went, though, not all kids are fortunate to have help from their parents. Many kids nowadays may be the first in their family to take on higher education. The article, “First Generation College Students: Unprepared and Behind” by Liz Riggs explains that kids who are the first in their family to take on college are at a disadvantage compared to kids with parents who attended college.
My mother and father have always wanted the best for me, like all good parents do. One of the many things that they expect from me is to receive a college education, something that they never had the chance to do. My parents always advise me to not to make the same mistakes as they did, to go to college so I can get a good job and not have to struggle in my life. With no alternative, my father had to drop out of school to help his family financially after his parents had gotten a divorce, and then he had received his GED.

It can be one of the best experiences in a person’s life, but it is a major adjustment from the life that most people live prior to it. With this adjustment comes many types of stress that a college student will face. My first day of high school as a freshmen in a new level of education Is what I was thinking when I woke from slumber that morning in bed. Stepping foot on the campus wasn’t even the beginning, taking the school bus in the morning is where the first taste of being a freshmen and actually starting and being an high school student. I started to get really nervous and a sense of reality hit me. Walking towards the bus stop all I see is a huge group of high school students waiting around for the bus, calm and cool as I try to stay to be I approach the waiting area not knowing what to I’m getting into.
