For years, people have been looking for alternate ways to get resources for us. Whether it hurts the world or not, they are hell bent on the pursuit of finding other resources. Fracking is one of these ways. Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth to release the gas inside. Just like everything in the world, people choose different sides and have multiple opinions on why they believe such a thing. Many positives can come from this like the fuel that comes from it and the people that are becoming employed because of it,and it is “cost saving”, yet it does take its toll on the world. Source B states “There are enough fossil fuels “locked” in bedrock shale formations under North American soil to make the United States energy independent, and a net exporter of oil and gas, in the near future.” Just think about it, people always say that we are destined to run out of fossil fuels in the near future but with this it gives more and could possibly extend that time even more. It also states “Tapping those energy sources would make the United States less dependent, economically and politically, on unstable countries such as Venezuela and the Middle East. It would also enable the West to be less dependent on Russian natural gas, which Vladimir Putin currently uses as a political level.” This also means that the tension that other countries cause with us because of the necessity of natural gas would no longer be there. Fracking gives us the opportunity to have natural gas and not only that but it would give us the upper hand politically as we won’t be as obedient to them as they want us to be because they know we NEED them. Whether you like it or not, fracking is somewhat safe and I don’t say this as my opinion because it is proved and said by the gas industry. It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t list the cons though.
