The human species loves to debate. In sports, people debate on which team, player, or franchise is the best. Today I will be telling you why I believe the 1996 Chicago Bulls basketball team would beat the 2017 Golden State Warriors basketball team in a seven game series. The 1996 Bulls are one of the greatest teams in NBA history. They set the regular season record with 72 wins and only 10 losses in ’96, and won the NBA Finals. The Bulls’ wins record stood until 2016; when the Golden State Warriors broke the record with one more win for a 73-9 season. However, the 2016 Warriors were unable to win the Finals. I know the Bulls would win because Chicago’s superstars would be able to slow down Golden State’s stars and outplay them in a series, the ’96 Bulls’ role players and team defense would help the Bulls beat the Warriors, and the Bulls had one star player that Golden State would not be able to stop, Michael Jordan. I think I will be able to convince you that the ’96 Bulls would beat the ’17 Warriors.

To begin, the star players of the ’96 Bulls would be able to outplay the ’17 Warriors stars. The most anticipated match up in this series would be between Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and scoring machine Stephen Curry. Aside from their superstars both teams had excellent benches and role players. These role players played great defense, provided scoring threats off the bench, and were excellent passers. The ’96 Bulls however, had more chemistry as a team and had better teamwork. The Bulls also had better rebounders than Golden State. To continue, another similarity these teams had is great team defense. An NBA statistic that measures a team’s defensive effectiveness is their team defensive rating. Both the ’96 Bulls and the ’17 Warriors led the league in this statistic during their seasons. The ’17 Warriors had a great rating of 99.5, but it is not as outstanding as the ’96 Bulls 101.8 rating. This statistic shows that the Bulls had a better defense than the Warriors. So, the 1996 Bulls team defense and role players would help the Bulls beat the 2017
