Personally, I believe that that those in need should be cared for by family first. If the family is not able to help, then the individuals can turn to government assistance. The programs themselves have some flaws, but the thought behind the programs is in the right place. When the programs are helping those that they were intended for, they are great programs. The problem with these programs especially welfare, is that people take advantage of the assistance given. Assistance programs are proven to reduce poverty and when the assistance is truly needed, that is a great thing. The list of pros and cons for these programs could go on for days.
Some of the most common pros are the fact that these programs do help reduce poverty and they give
