Food Stamps
I have chosen to do food stamps for many reasons. In an economy where it is very easy to fall into financial trouble many people need help. In 1933 the American invented the first AAA program (Agricultural Adjustment Act) during the Great Depression. This topic is so important to me because of people cheating the system. People who take these food stamps and sell them for half the amount of money that they cost. People who use the food stamps aren’t required to use a Id when using the food stamp cards. in 2012 an average of 13.9 million people received monthly benefits. In 10 states over 27,044 recipients had been illegally drawing money. In that instance some people had been drawling double benefits from more than one state. Others were listed as ineligible or disqualified but still receiving benefits from SNAP. Reasons like this is why it is so controversial for me. Being 20 years old I have seen the harsh environment of our world. Everybody needs help even me. People taking advantage of this ruins it for everyone for me. I want everyone to be able to eat and not be hungry. This is so important to me because this such a good opportunity to help the people that need help. Not to turn our backs on our friends, family, and neighbors.
