Gun control is an issue that just keeps gaining momentum and everyone wants to say their piece. Ranging from NRA members and red necks who want to keep their fire arms to friends, families, and victims of mass shootings who want to make sure their loved ones are safe. This issue needs to be solve in a way to minimize the amount of ruffled feathers and it needs to happen quickly. With the number of gun violence in crime increasing America should do more to prevent this violence but we don’t need to take overly severe measures, therefore the best option is to compromise.

This compromise would be having some gun control but not to the extreme of banning all guns. Placing restrictions on the second amendment is one such compromise. Some may say that it’s taking away our individual right but “Take… our freedom of speech. It is one of the most clearly stated… rights in the Constitution, yet it is also subject to numerous restrictions. Our speech might not be protected if it falsely damages someone’s reputation, aids and abets a crime…” (West). This is a great example of a compromise because restrictions don’t completely take away freedoms but helps keeps everyone it affects safe. Another compromise is that we could just completely change the second amendment because we have changed since the amendment has been written and the amendment needs to change with us. This is a more drastic compromise but a compromise none the less.by changing the second amendment we wouldn’t have to worry about the argument of losing an individual right because we would be changing the amendment rather than placing restrictions on it. There are many other compromises that we could make it’s just a matter of trying to get everyone to have a calm decision about it rather than having emotions raging and not making progress in any
