With the wake of recent protests and the number of gun massacres people are at odds about our nations gun laws. The most important of these proposed laws is the assault weapon ban, because of its divide in people who either support it or are against it. The reason it is such a talked about topic is because there is a huge controversy over whether it will have an impact on the rate of gun massacres. The pro-gun control groups believe that the assault weapon ban will make it safer, where the anti-gun control groups believe that it won't have an impact and only restrict people's liberties to own a gun. Then there is the libertarian view that this law is a total infringement on our nation's second amendment and shouldn't have restrictions or the banning of any gun. With these three different views we will be able to see how we as Americans interpret this law as a whole.

The assault weapon ban was a law enacted in 1994 after a large shooting that swayed public opinion into action. It banned the purchasing of certain semi-automatic weapons as well as various accessories like a magazine that carries more than 10 bullets. They make a point is saying that they have put up bans over the years and nothing has come of it, that we are just sacrificing our liberties. They then go on to say, "Banning firearms of any type . . . make it harder for we the People to exercise our right to keep and bear arms."(libertarians).
