Gun control has been a hot topic with the world for a while. Many people have strong opinions on it. This whole topic comes from one of the amendments. The Second Amendment reads, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (“Second Amendment." Britannica School.Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc., 2015. Web. 20 Nov. 2015.”). This amendment basically states that people have the right to keep guns in their possession.

It has more of a negative opinion that goes along with it. The reason for this is because of a lot of events that have happened throughout the years involve guns. Most of these events are school shootings. One of the biggest is Columbine. It occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, leaving 15 dead, including the two students responsible for the attack(‘Columbine High School shootings." Britannica School. Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc., 2015. Web. 24 Nov. 2015.). Another example is the Sandy Hook Shooting. On December 14, 2012, a man named Adam Lanza who was twenty years old found and took some guns that his mother had purchased. He shot her in her home and then went to the elementary school right down the road and left 28 people dead and 2 injured. In addition to the shooter, 18 children and 6 adults died at Sandy Hook School and 2 children died at a nearby hospital (“Newtown shootings of 2012." Britannica School. One being that some people would say that this is a reason guns shouldn't be allowed to be in the arms of a citizen. Anyone could see it and pick it up just like these kids and commit this type of terrible crime. Two being that if everyone took advantage of the amendment and had a gun in the house then maybe stuff like this could be prevented. Some People after the events happened wanted the
