“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” - Wayne La Pierre (Pierre). Gun control will not make America safer, but will make the good guy unprotected. The only thing stopping a person is their own heart, and no law will make a person’s heart soften. Gun control is not the answer to America’s problems. Gun control is not the answer to society’s problems because of the 2nd Amendment, the right to hunt, and the fact it will not stop criminals. First of all, The Second Amendment proves Americans have the right to bear firearms. “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”(ProCon.org). Americans have the right to own firearms, and this is one of Americans’ most important rights. “In 2011, there were 13.7 million hunters 16 years or older in the United States, and they spent 7.7 billion on guns, sights, ammunition, and other hunting equipment”(ProCon.org). Americans invest in hunting because it is a major hobby for them. Guns are a huge money maker for American manufacturers, and helps the economical flow. This is why guns are an important piece of American society. “According to a Feb. 2013 Pew Research report, 32% of gun owners owned guns for hunting and 7% owned guns for target or sport shooting”(ProCon.org). One of the main American hobbies is hunting. Many people use it for their time to witness God’s creation and to get out of the routine of work to relax.
