The United States was built and protected with guns. However, today so many individuals misuse the fact that as Americans we our guaranteed the right to own a weapon. With this misuse, Americans are wavering on the fact that lawmakers will take our guns away or make it more difficult to get a gun. In this essay I will explain the gun laws, reason to change legal age in which to buy a gun, and reason not to change the legal age to purchase a gun. The Americans have owned guns since the beginning of the American history currently there are 22 percent of people that own one or more guns. and the second Amendment,which states- “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”(Constitution, 1796)

The (NSSF) says that assault rifles/weapons are more often not less powerful than hunting rifles. 235,700 people protected themselves with the use of a gun, there where about 50,000 guns that the chicago PD recovered from 2001 and march 2012 and these guns had came from all 50 states more than half of them came from in illinois and out of illinois, this proves that if they change the gun laws that guns are still going to be out there on the streets. If the government changed the gun laws 57% of people surveyed saying that it would give the government to much power/control over the people.
