In San Diego cali. school there was a shooting with a 15 year old who killed 2 people and injured 13. Some say that he was smiling when he pulled the trigger. this event and many others have lead to the demand for stricter gun laws. however, gun laws punish honest citizens.
Statistics show that comparable to other democratic nations the United states has a higher proportion of gun related violent incidents than those states where gun control legislation has been adopted. An example would be the case of the United Kingdom, which had approximately 2,261 Violence Against the Person (VAP) Offences involving firearms, including low velocity Air weapons in 2015/16 . If this is then compared to the United States which had, in the same period, 9,616 gun related murders and a million VAP offences that did not end in a fatality, then it can be argued that the NRA’s outdated mantra is illogical . There are many further problems with the NRA argument that can be identified in the modern era. , but the main issue would be the NRA’s reasons for the existence of the Amendment.
The U.S. is in dire need of stricter gun control laws. Many citizens would refute this claim, however, not the majority. In fact, the large majority of United States citizens are in agreement that stricter gun control is needed (Spitzer). Why then are so few gun control bills passed into law? The answer is influence, and perhaps even more so passion.
Equally important, those who cannot legally buy guns will steal from legal gun owners’ homes. This makes the legal gun owners look as if they helped produce the crime and obtaining guns from other illegal channel. Gun control laws can prevent criminals from stealing guns, changing the right of the carrying gun laws and this can be the solution. In the meantime, it reduces the sponsorship of gun-related crimes. Nevertheless, the opponent believes gun regulation laws still couldn’t be able to prevent the criminals from obtaining guns.
Gun violence currently now at an all-time high. What do you think should do about it? Currently, tensions are rising between both sides of the topic of gun control. If you don't know what gun control is, it is a set of laws that'll regulate the manufacture and sales that go along with guns. I'd say, due to the examples provided of evidence in other countries that have stricter gun laws, that we shall be more restrictive guns, but still allow the citizens of the right to self-defense.
A term often used in modern debates about firearms is “law-abiding citizen”. While “law-abiding” means “abiding by or obedient to the law” according to Merriam-Webster, it also carries the connotation that said citizen poses no outward threat to the other inhabitants of this wonderful country. However, with guns on both sides of the issue, both saving lives and taking them, their proliferation throughout American society raises concerns about where to draw the line with regards to gun control legislation. With Time citing over 30,000 deaths due to gun violence a year, legislation must be effective in order to reduce such a startling number (Hale 1).
Gun laws are one of the reason that rates the percentage of criminals over the US population. The Gun Control Act of 1968 was accepted by signature of President Lydon B.Johnson on October 22,1968 that gave the gun licensed for the firearm dealers, and prohibited them to sell a gun for felons, drug users, or mentally incompetent persons. This Act was passed under presidential term of John F Kennedy in 1963 that prelude an assassination by firearm. Obviously, gun control laws apply for all citizens who include offenders. Because on one side the government think owning a handgun that eliminates gun deaths.
When I was seven years old, I spent my christmas with my grandmother in Gary Indiana. After we were done eating Christmas dinner, I opened my last present. It was a stuffed animal dog. I went to bed clinging on to my stuffed animal with a smile on my face. I was aroused the next morning with three loud bangs coming from outside.
According to Christopher Ingraham with the Washington Post, there are now more guns in circulation than there are people in the United States, with that number exceeding 300 million. Gun manufacturers often use the second amendment as a means to increase their sales. I think as business majors, we can all appreciate a good marketing strategy. So what exactly are the laws behind purchasing a gun? We’ll begin with background checks in Louisiana:
Once and again, the issue about gun laws continues to be the top debate for the past decade or so whether to regulate or not regulate gun control. Many issues that citizens and lawmakers relay is that guns do more harm than good and others say that it is for the protection of citizens. With all the mass shootings that have happened it makes the people including myself rethink that we should have some sort of gun regulations to prevent it. However, others say it doesn’t stop another person from finding new ways to harm others. Maybe the constitution was written for the American people to have guns were for the government to call them to war when things get dire.
Everyone talks about gun control needing to be stricter and laws that need to be changed, but what are people going to change? Some say that guns should be taken away all together but does that really solve anything? Guns are so easily essaible it is unreal, yes one would have to do a "background" check but one doesn't even have to put down their social security number if they do not wish to do so. Not everyone that buys a gun is buying it to use it in a dangerous way. Most people buy a gun to protect their home and family or even just in case of an emergency.
The United States was built and protected with guns. However, today so many individuals misuse the fact that as Americans we our guaranteed the right to own a weapon. With this misuse, Americans are wavering on the fact that lawmakers will take our guns away or make it more difficult to get a gun. In this essay I will explain the gun laws, reason to change legal age in which to buy a gun, and reason not to change the legal age to purchase a gun.
Gun Control Laws do not relate with less violence. This is a big argument going around the U.S today. Many people think that banning guns will make the violence rate go down. But I think wrong, I think banning guns will just make people mad, and make this country in more debt. Why do I think this?
Gun Laws More gun control laws should not be put into place. Some people might disagree but most gun control laws that are trying to be passed are to ban rifles and some are to make it harder and almost impossible to get a gun. The NRA has sued states over this because these laws that states want to be passed are unconstitutional and infringe upon the second amendment, the Right to Bear Arms. More gun control laws should not be put into place. First off, the second amendment of the US constitution protects individual gun ownership.
The Second Amendment states, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. " Proponents of more gun control interpret it as being meant for the militia and that the gun laws should be stricter for the average American citizen or ban guns altogether. However, opponents of more gun control believe that the amendment is protecting an individual’s rights right to own guns and protect themselves. However, gun control laws do not deter crime; gun ownership deters crime. Guns will still exist even if it’s not legal for civilians to own them because there is always a way for criminals to get a hold of them, it has been proven in history, and don’t prevent gun related deaths.
