Once and again, the issue about gun laws continues to be the top debate for the past decade or so whether to regulate or not regulate gun control. Many issues that citizens and lawmakers relay is that guns do more harm than good and others say that it is for the protection of citizens. With all the mass shootings that have happened it makes the people including myself rethink that we should have some sort of gun regulations to prevent it. However, others say it doesn’t stop another person from finding new ways to harm others. Maybe the constitution was written for the American people to have guns were for the government to call them to war when things get dire. When the English settlers came to the new world, they were provided supplies like food, clothing, and guns. Firearms were supplied to the settlers to protect themselves from the Native Americans. The Americans wanted to become independent from Great Britain to protect themselves by using the firearms that were supplied from Great Britain. Without the laws of gun control, George Washington’s army and the militia were able to claim their independence from Great Britain’s rule. What Washington believed was that without the militia being allowed to carry firearms they wouldn’t have beaten Great Britain. Washington viewed that later down the road if the government had gotten out of line that the American people would have something to protect themselves.
