Gun violence currently now at an all-time high. What do you think should do about it? Currently, tensions are rising between both sides of the topic of gun control. If you don't know what gun control is, it is a set of laws that'll regulate the manufacture and sales that go along with guns. I'd say, due to the examples provided of evidence in other countries that have stricter gun laws, that we shall be more restrictive guns, but still allow the citizens of the right to self-defense.

In multiple countries in Europe, it has shown lower gun violence and mass shootings in recent memory since implementing stricter gun laws. Studies have displayed that stricter gun laws lead to less crime according to ("Issues and controversies"). Advocates of gun control also state that guns aren't commonly used for self-defense. According to the ("Gale Research team"), most self-defense situations haven't involved guns. Self-defense currently hasn’t been commonly used with a firearm. Also, supporters claim that the 2nd amendment isn't an unlimited right to own guns. The constitution states that you DO have the right to bear arms, but NOT an unlimited supply of it. Basically, what they're saying is that we'd still be following the constitution if we implement stricter gun laws. Critics of gun control have pointed out the fact that gun control is going AGAINST the 2nd amendment. Emphasizing the constitution protects gun rights for any guns and any citizen. The 2nd amendment secures the right to bear arms for an American citizen. As both sides bring up good points on the constitution, the critics of gun control also state that higher gun ownership is a better solution to reducing mass shootings and crime, if properly implemented. According to ("Issues and Controversies"), Switzerland hasn’t had a mass shooting since early 2000, but still has some gun violence problems. Regardless, they're still one of the lowest in gun violence compared to other countries in the world. So, although Switzerland has high gun ownership among its citizens, it hasn't had a mass shooting in a long time and has had a fine success with it. Opponents of gun control also argue that gun control won't stop criminals from illegally acquiring certain guns if they're banned. For example, places like the deep web sell illegal drugs, and already sells illegal weapons that already are banned. So, it is emphasized that criminals already acquire drugs illegally, they'll find a way to obtain guns illegally critics argue.
