On September 25 of 1789 our founding fathers constructed the Constitution of the United States, Which included the second Amendment where it allowed civilians the right as American to bear arms. On October 22,1968 president Lyndon B. Johnson signed a The Gun Control law of 1968. The Gun control act of 1968 was part of a “great society” movement by president Johnson that was initiated after the assassination of president Kennedy (Eakins). In the 1994 ban signing by president Clinton and the federal government, which imposed 19 types of military-style weapons to be banned for ten- years. After reflecting and analyzing this debatable and political topic ten years later congress allowed the law to be expired. This controversy topic became an on growing call on the reexamination on the assault weapons issue. With an increase in massive shootings this has become a on going topic in America. “Since 2007 there have been twenty-eight incidents involving assault weapons, eight involving semi-automatic with magazine of 10 rounds or more” (Violence Policy Center 2014). Some of the most infamous mass shooting have been Virginia Tech 2007, with 33 dead; Century Aurora 2012, 16 movie theaters with 12 dead and 58 wounded; Sandy Hook Elementary 2014, that left twenty-eight dead including the shooter, in which twenty of the victims where children; Pulse Nightclub 2016, 50 dead including the shooter and 53 wounded (Violence Policy Center 2014).
