Gun Control
Over 100,000 people per year are injured or killed via firearms in America alone. Only 1,000 of this group are killed by police intervention. Gun control is the selling, buying, and using guns. With America being the most gun violent country in the world, this problem will not be easy to solve. Many people have witnessed an armed robbery electronically or in person. These people would know, that these robberies are not uncommon. The second amendment was made in 1791, allowing people to defend themselves with firearms, but also allowing criminals and psychopaths to murder, rob, abduct, etc. These criminals could be doing it to someone they hate, someone wealthy, and unfortunately, some people do it for entertainment. 125,000 armed robberies and an astonishing 1,000,000 abductions, including children, happen each year in the US. Guns are a very dangerous issue among America. Although in 1934, the National Firearms act was established, banning sound suppressors, short-barrel shotguns, and machine guns, handguns still remain a large issue. During the 1960s and 1970s the murder rate doubled and the rate of handgun ownership nearly doubled as well. The whole process takes no more than 1 day, making it easier for dangerous people to carry handguns. According to Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, “guns are far too accessible and too readily available. There are over 200 million guns in our society--and that's just the legal ones, the ones we know about.” Most of these guns are used for incongruent uses. In fact, in Alabama, Utah, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, and tens of other states, no license is required at all. These states come to be the most violent states in the US.
