Over the years, regulation of firearms has been neglected in the U.S. Although the Second Amendment allows citizens the right to carry a gun, people can opportunity to misuse guns which can often lead to felonies and loss. If the government increases gun regulation, there will be fewer crimes and death. Some argue that owning firearms decrease violence and crimes; however, gun control advocates disagree for they believe it causes more corruption and death. In Melinda Wender Moyer’s “More Guns Do Not Stop More Crimes, Evidence Shows”, a 2017 January study proclaimed that the monthly homicide rate increased nearly a quarter when Florida passed “stand your ground”. This study indicates that owning firearms does not provide protection, instead it causes more assault and murder. Even though the people of Florida use guns for protection, the mishandling of guns are creating more deaths and homicide.
