Personal attacks are a hallmark of many campaigns, especially national/congressional/senate elections. Email scandals were a large part of the Republican Party’s campaigns. Any politician who does not use their official email account is violating the rules. The official business should be preserved in their professional email. The Democrats are appalled by the recent news of members of Trump’s team using their private emails to handle government affairs and classified information, due to Trump’s vicious attacks on Clinton regarding her private email server and emails. Her 55,000 emails were given to a judge later that year; many were deleted and unable to be recovered. A Maryland judge recently opened an investigation into three lawyers who helped Clinton delete her emails. Judge Paul F. Harris Jr. has stated that the three lawyers are being accused of destroying evidence. “The state’s rules require the bar to conduct investigations no matter who raises the complaint and can’t brush aside accusations” (Dinan). Trump has repeatedly used her email scandal against her. A major portion of his campaign was based on the idea of “Crooked Hillary” (Trump) going to jail and not being the first female president. Most of his supporters chanted “Lock her up” at his rallies because due to the email scandal (Tatum). Former FBI Director James Comey said even though Clinton and her aides were "extremely careless"... there was no evidence that anyone intended to break the law, and he recommended against criminal prosecution (Tucker). Both mainstream political parties are examples of poor leadership to the United States, and are a poor example to the rest of the world. Democrats and Republicans are supposed to put aside their political differences and work together to represent most of the citizens in the United States. In a perfect world, everyone would be represented equally; due to different religious beliefs, gender, and race, every law that passed will not be supported by every single American. Despite this, legislation should represent a majority of Americans. In this current political state, both political parties feel that their side is not being fairly represented. The political divide in the United States is due to the fractures within the government and the extremism within both major political parties. Since the government is not united, the citizens of the United States are not united. There are many problems in this country being ignored thanks to partisan politics. American citizens need healthcare, and immigrants need to be able to fulfill their vision of living the “American dream.” The debates on Twitter and on the House floor are unacceptable. Time and tax dollars are being wasted on petty arguments that do not lead to progress. Controversies and arguments need to be put to rest. The government needs to work together and not
