The Islamic State. ISIS. ISIL. They go by many names. Their ever-changing definition is what creates the illusion that they are an elusive, enigmatic, unstoppable embodiment of terror (if you can’t define it, you can’t beat it, right?).
The United States fought unnecessary wars in Vietnam and Iraq. The war on communism, in Vietnam, severed the United States compared to the war on terrorism, in Iraq. During both wars the U.S. Military spent millions to billions of money, deaths were extremely high, and both failed to accomplish their purpose. Firstly the Iraq War dealt massive harm to the United States in multiple ways.
ISIS is a clan formed in Iraq and they despise our country and the muslims located in it. ISIS is also responsible for a lot of bombings we hear about today. ISIS was responsible for a major terrorist attack on Paris a few months ago. Paris was bombed in a hotel and many people killed or severely injured during the terrorist attacks performed by ISIS.
Wherever Isis goes they kill and are a problem. Isis established in 2004 by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. He was close to Osama bin Laden, but he wasn't a part of Al Qaeda. Isis is a violent terrorist group who are determined to kill all Muslims that do not accept their brand of Islam.
ISIS was able to destabilize an entire region, control large territories, force neighboring countries to reevaluate immigration and foreign policy, branch into other parts of the globe, force recognition on the international stage, and rival other VEOs such as Al Qaeda; by using simple and hybrid methods of insurgency, Asymmetric warfare, and traditional forms of Islamic law and governance. The group’s activities, which keep the organization functioning, reside within the known safe havens of Raqqa, Syria and Mosul, Iraq. Seizing Raqqa will likely force ISIS to rebuild and reestablish a similar powerbase and eventually lead to dismantling senior leadership in Syria. Raqqa, the primary stronghold for ISIS operations in Syria, rests in the historically,
The Islamic state, or ISIS is a militia movement with conquered territory in western Iraq and east Syria. Seizing multiple territories in the Iraq’s heartland and having amounts of success has drawn in more foreign recruits to them, raising concern in the west. Moreover, this has led the United States to send in the air campaigns to try and roll back the Islamic state advancements. Now, as of November fifteenth, 2015, ISIS has taken upon itself to drop multiple bombs in Paris, France and both France and the United States want to retaliate back.
The word jihad does not only mean “a struggle or fight against the enemies of Islam”, but also mean “a spiritual struggle against one’s sin”. The definition of a crusade is: “to take part in an organization concerning a social, political or religious issue. There have been many points in history when a holy war has been waged. The Holocaust and WWII have not been called a Holy war, but millions of Jews died because the Nazi party thought their religion was wrong. Today, America is suspicious of all Muslims and we call them terrorists.
March 19, 2003 is a day in history that will spark controversy no matter where you are in the world. I think one thing we can all agree on is that violence is terrible. There is always another answer, even if it's not the easiest. We went to war with Iraq because the leader of our country at the time, George W. Bush, couldn't realize this. He risked the life of millions of people because Iraq wouldn't cooperate after one warning.
Have you ever had the fear that you might get blown up by a roadside bomb or that someone walking down the street might have a bomb strapped to there chest? Well if us as americans don't do everything we can to destroy ISIS then they might just bring the fight to our homeland. The Islamic state of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a very dangerous and very capable terrorist group. They are considers the most dangerous group in the world today. They killed over 6,000 people last year and are not slowing down.
ISIS has caused havoc in other places outside of the Middle East too. They have caused terror in Europe by detonating bombings in France and other European countries. ISIS needs to be wiped out for good in order to ensure the middle East can be safe again. Barack Obama pulled our troops out of Iraq. Since then, ISIS has absolutely taken over the Middle East, this occurred on the date of December
The people involved in ISIS are over 30,000 Islamic terrorists that believe everyone has to follow their religion. There are many countries fighting ISIS right now, but only nine countries (USA, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Australia) are involved in airstrikes against ISIS. These countries are trying to weaken them militarily and financially. The first airstrikes were in August 8, 2014, and since then, more than 8000 airstrikes have hit Iraq and Syria. Many lives have been lost because of ISIS.
Under Paul Bremer, U.S administrators decided to remove the members and influence of the Ba’ath party from public office in Iraq. As a result hundreds of thousands of Sunnis were left with no job to work, frustrating many. Using there anger to an advantage, Al Qaeda in Iraq, or AQI rebelled against U.S troops. During this time, many members of this group were jailed in U.S camps due to bombings and other horrific acts. In 2007, U.S troops encouraged Sunni tribes to begin to stop influencing AQI.
It is difficult to fight ISIS because, unlike Al Qaeda, the Islamic State seeks to build a caliphate. The positive news is that ISIS is believed to be fairly contained. The term “World War” is unhelpful because it implies the world is at war with each other rather than multiple states being at war with a terrorist organization. ISIS has brought about one of the most diverse and powerful alliances in history consisting of the US, Russia, Britain, France, and Iran. The most recent problem ISIS has presented with the Paris attacks is what to do with incoming Syrian refugees.
The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, otherwise known as ISIS, is an Islamic terrorists group who is very brutal. Beheading, beating to death, and manipulating a lot of others in the world. The world needs to take this group down so nothing worse happens to the world. The countries in the world need to come together and defeat this group. By coming together it would outnumber ISIS and surround them and force them to surrender.
ISIS today has built a global terrorist network. They have drawn recruits from 120 countries, and have killed 1,200 people in countries outside of Iraq and Syria over the past several years (Rosenberg, 2017). Today, Al Qaeda is currently on the back burner, after over a decade of war with the world’s superpowers are eventually going to wear you down and eventually lose the war. ISIS is also slowly weakening Al Qaeda, based on three things: Al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra (JN) has lost several hundred fighters in battles against ISIS and numerous fighters have defected to ISIS from JN.
