In vitro fertilization is the process of taking a woman's eggs and removing them from their ovaries and mixed with sperm in a laboratory. In vitro fertilization, or commonly known as test tube babies, have been controversial for the past years. They are so controversial mainly because of ethical views. Some people think that it is wrong to do the work of god. The three main reasons in vitro fertilization is controversial is because of the health risks, the price, and ethical views. To understand in vitro fertilization someone first must learn the history of it. In vitro fertilization can be harmful for the children because they can have a higher chance of having heart problems. Other than that, their are no other significant problems with the children. Children born through IVF have about the same chance of having serious health problems. Having a baby through the methods of in in vitro fertilization can have a cost, literally. On average, an in vitro fertilization costs roughly $12,000 without any problems and medication. Medication can usually cost $3000 to $5000. Most families don’t have that kind of money to have a baby, so they just give up. But in other cases, families spend all their money to have a baby then can’t financially support them. The main reason most families don't use in vitro fertilization, is because of ethical views. In some religions, being infertile is “a sign from God”, so those families don't want to turn their back on “God”, so they turn their back on in vitro fertilization.
