Introduction
Gender is something that has been strongly associated with sex over the years, so much so that they were used interchangeably. That being said, it has always been a system shock whenever somebody is born in between the two. These individuals are referred to as intersex and they have a tough time trying to blend in and adapt to societal norms. The current level of understanding towards intersex individuals is subpar and leaves them feeling isolated from those who were born normal. As with everything that humankind does not understand, it is to be feared and ridiculed. Thus, these individuals develop an inferiority complex that can sometimes consume the entirety of their lives as they try to figure out who they are and how they fit into the big picture.
