Marijuana Should Marijuana be Considered a psychedelic drug along with mescaline and LSD? No. I don’t feel that Marijuana should be categorized the same way as Mescaline and LSD. Psychedelic means mind manifesting. Mescaline is a drug made from a cactus called peyote, and are not as powerful of a psychedelic drug as LSD. As little as 25 micrograms, or one-millionth of an ounce of LSD make intense psychological effects with minimal physiological changes. LSD, chemically, is a lot like serotonin that regulates mood and sensations. This creates stimulation to the serotonin receptor site in the somatosensory cortex. The psychedelic experience depends on the persons personality, their emotional state, and surroundings. A bad trip can cause anxiety, panic attacks, and psychotic episodes. While low doses of THC can create a feeling of mild euphoria, well-being, and a sleepy state of relaxation. Some of the side effects are more focus of senses and sensations become more vivid. Enhancement of your taste, touch, and smell may occur and you could lose track of
