When foreigners arrive at the United States, medical insurance is one of the most difficult topics they struggle with. How much is it? Which provider should I choose? What kind of insurance plan would fit my needs? Hollywood movies portray people without a medical insurance as homeless, poor, or unsuccessful. Honestly saying, I am not afraid to lose my job as much as I am afraid to lose my medical insurance. Unregulated medical charges and increasing drug prices make us slaves of giant pharmaceutical groups. According to the performance-management consulting company, Gallup, 58% of U.S. adults favor the idea of replacing the law with a federally funded healthcare system that provides insurance for all Americans (Gallup). In 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA), known as Obamacare. Obamacare has a lot of pros and cons, so I will try to cover the most important parts of it. One of the positive things I personally noticed is that patient cannot be turned down by an insurance company because of a pre-existing condition.
