Minimally invasive surgery is a new, attractive and unique alternative to traditional open surgeries. However, its rising popularity hasn't masked the truth about the same day surgery. People can easily go online and discover in-depth information about different surgeries. They are gaining traction due to a shorter operation and recovery time with significantly lesser cost.

But, doctors across India would highlight that their true validity lies in technology. What does that mean? The medical reason for a surgical treatment at the minimally invasive surgery center is different. When you enter a minimally invasive surgery center for a procedure, a surgeon can use one of the two technologies.
* robotics-assisted surgery
* endoscopic surgery

In an ambulatory surgery center, a computerised console enables a surgeon to operate on a patient via robotic arms. The robotics assisted surgical procedure can be undertaken without entering the operation theatre itself. Surgeon uses 3D imaging for viewing. Then, robotic arms are used to operate.
Laparoscopic or endoscopic surgery is relatively different. In this case, a surgeon is present in the operation theatre of an ambulatory surgery center. Endoscopic equipment with microscope is inserted through extremely small incisions to reach the organs.

What are its risks involved?

An outpatient surgery is considerably less risky than a traditional operation. That is a scientifically proven fact. But, a minimally invasive surgery is a surgery nevertheless. So, it does involve risks. Though these risks are applicable to any form of surgery, a patient must know about it to make a well-informed decision. Typical risks are complications of anaesthesia, infection, wound complications or blood transfusion
