The outsourcing of American companies is leading to a loss of American jobs and leaving Americans in poverty. Also the work places outside of America have unsafe working conditions and employees that work for little pay. Nike is one of these companies that decide to outsource their factories overseas. The American companies that are choosing to weaken the economy are trying to legally find a way to pay less in taxes. On October 22, 2015 California’s representative Jerry Mcnerney proposed a bill that would gift companies that would choose to stay in America. “Rep. The workers have gone on strike and had protests. People have tried to support them by boycotting Nike. “Nike faced boycotts, protests, and a raft of negative publicity after a series of newspaper and television reports in 1996 and 1997 said Nike factory workers in Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia suffered human rights abuses, low pay, and poor working conditions” (Gullo Gale.) Nike is one of the worst companies for shipping factories and jobs overseas. “It is estimated that from 2000 to 2009, multinational corporations cut 2.9 million U.S. jobs while at the same time adding 2.4 million jobs outsourced abroad” (McNerney NEWS.) The reason these companies are choosing to relocate their business is because they can take advantage of other countries and people who are desperate for money and a job. So they are able to make these factories that are unsafe and can be deadly while paying them very little.
