First-past-the-post is a type of electoral system used to elect the Parliament in the United Kingdom. During the time of voting the UK is divided into 650 voting districts known as constituencies. In each polling station, voters that are registered and eligible to vote, elect one Member of Parliament to take a seat in the House of Commons. Generally, the party that wins the bulk of the seats in the House of Commons forms the Government.
