As medical technology advances in leaps and bounds, so does the number of ethical dilemmas in the world of contemporary medicine. Whereas once, the concept of keeping a man's heart beating despite its inability to do so was considered quackery, it has now become routine procedure in most hospitals. Any sane man would be delighted to hear they can extend their lifespan by up to ten years, despite their heart's dysfunctionality. However, what if one does not wish to be kept alive? What if the consequences that may accompany such methods outweigh the pros? Such is the equivocal case of Harry and Dr. Smith. Of course, upholding sacred oaths is important, but how about we contemplate on what physician assisted suicide would imply for the equally sacred mystery of life? Unfortunately contemporary science has yet to unveil the mystery surrounding life. How were we created? Why do we exist? Is there a purpose behind our creation? Those questions have yet to be answered by scholars and scientists all around the world, yet we're so eager to discard that sacred mystery that we've been blessed with... Physician assisted suicide is essentially an offense to life itself. Surrendering to pain and misfortune is perhaps the graver mistake one can make. We are lucky, to have been born into this world. We're lucky to have been given the chance to flourish and prevail in this beautiful world. Life, in the spiritual sense, has armed our bodies with defense mechanisms meant to keep it alive for as long as possible. It has given us cell regeneration to repair wounded parts, hair to keep us from freezing and a brain to help is survive and find solutions to our problems, yet we want to ignore all of those blessings and forcibly shut them down in order to elude pain. They claim that a human being is not a wild animal and that it should under no circumstances be allowed to suffer in pain and agony, especially if they are going to die nevertheless. Based on this argument, governors of many US states have legislated laws which permit the use of physician assisted suicide, for imminent death cases such as state four cancer etc. Moreover, they have implemented security mechanisms to prevent abuse of the said system, such as two psychiatrists evaluating the patient's mental health and two doctors diagnosing the patient with a terminal death disease, before moving on to the final
