Imagine waking up to pure chaos, including some of the deadliest and most destructive weapons ever produced by mankind, and in the blink of an eye the once city you were so familiar with becomes a flattened wasteland scattered with mutilated bodies. The loud bang of the explosion soon turned into an unsettling silence with short, blood-curling, agonizing screams. This is the reality for citizens of two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I don’t agree with Harry Truman’s decision to drop the bomb, and I think it was unethical. In my opinion, I don’t think it was necessary because the Japanese were already about to quit. Chief of Staff for President Truman Admiral William E. Leahy states,” At present a surrender of Japan can be arranged with terms that can be accepted by Japan and that will make fully satisfactory provisions for America's defense against future trans-Pacific aggression.” This statement is from a close advisor to the President who is aware of all the factors that went with Truman’s decision and still agrees that it was a wrong decision. …show more content…
