According to “The Radioactive Atoll” lecture cleaning at Bikini Atoll was commenced at 1969. "There's virtually no radiation left and we can find no discernible effect on either plant or animal life." says the AEC to persuade the Bikinians that the island was clean. In 1972 human race started to moving back to Bikini Atoll, but the coconut crabs on the island was radioactive. The coconut crab were on on one of the food on Bikini Atoll. “The AEC announced that the crabs were still radioactive and could be eaten only in limited numbers.” On June 1975 base on “The Radioactive Atoll” lecture and “Bikini History” article the foods that grow on the island, drinking water, and land was radioactive. “The radiological tests discovered higher levels of radioactivity than originally thought." They also took some samples of vegetation, marine foods, animals and soil to determine if the Bikinians need to be relocate again. “Medical tests of urine samples from the 100 people living on Bikini detected the presence of low levels of plutonium 239 and 240.” Robert Conard of Brookhaven Laboratories says that "are probably not radiologically significant." but still the radioactive could get worse. Even if, according to “Bikini Atoll Reading Packet” article #2 the United States assigned a monitoring programme to secure the safety of the citizens and the food supplies. Some of the species on the atoll have been extinct because of the radiation or blast from the bomb. Base on the article the bravo crater which is where the corals are in now was cause by the blast. “It left a crater 2,200 yards across and 80 yards deep, shaking islands more than 120 miles away.” It also stated that the blast was 1,000 times powerful than the blow that devastated the city of Hiroshima from Japan that killed 65,000 to 200,000 people. That causes the species to get to the level of extinction. The foods or sea life on the lagoon became toxic from the radiation, people can not them so starvation have been the problem. When the Bikinians commenced on going back to Bikini Atoll after United States thought they all clear out the radiation on the island. The coconut tree crab has a radioactive on it. The AEC says it was fine eating but only on a small limit. However the nuclear bomb did not cause only destruction on Bikini Atoll. The coral from bravo crater that was hit by the blast of the nuclear bomb have been blooming since the atoll is uninhabited. Some corals have been destroyed by human race so since they are not on Bikini Atoll the corals were flourishing. According to the “Radiation Reading Packet” article #3 “It received fallout and was evacuated of people, so now underwater it's really healthy and prevailing
