In today’s market the idea of going green is so prevalent, business are weighing the pros and cons of joining the Green movement. This does not affect every company, but the majority of businesses feel the pressure of the movement. Through research of companies, reading articles and observations it can be seen that finances of the company and the state of the economy can make it difficult and not desirable to go green. The choice to join the Green Movement can be a difficult one. Until the economy changes, businesses will not focus on joining the Green movement. Companies they may use some green marketing although they mostly to choose to market towards other aspects of the market, such as product and sales.

These various environmental movements have become known as environmentalism” (Truell, Allen “Green Marketing”). There have been different movements in history that had led up to how people react and what they know today. Will not go into them but environmentalism is important to understand. The Merriam-Webster’s definition of environmentalism is “a theory that views environment rather than heredity as the important factor in the development and especially the cultural and intellectual development of an individual or group”(DIC). These groups that the definition mentions are important because they are the consumer, and are getting bigger according to many of the sources in this paper. Sustainability, another concept to green movement, is a rising importance and societal forces of this must not be underestimated (Dib,Lyndon 94-95).
