Do you think that the NSA has gone too far in its surveillance activities? Why or why not? Absolutely, if you are a native-born terrorist, or someone who holds a high degree of paranoia. I am on the same side of the road on majority of issues with the group of friends I associate with, so it may come a shock to them, but I do not feel the NSA is hindering my privacy. Great arguments against my claim contend that allowing any privacy breach from the NSA leaves doors open for much more in the future, or the clear violation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. I was never a fan of my Father’s approach to supporting his opinions, yet I feel such a rebuttal warrants it; if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about. Yes, this argument could be ripped to shreds by any intelligent individual who practices the art of rhetoric. However, I believe the statement has truth in it. An obvious pro for the collection of data by the NSA is the reduction in terrorist threats to our Nation. I would like to emphasize the word reduction, because as a veteran I know how hard it is to fight that enemy; it’s almost impossible to eradicate that threat. A pro for the business side’s data collection would be increased revenue by increasing the company’s customers, or providing excellent customer satisfaction. A con for both would be the disregard to the individual’s confidentiality. It can be scary to discover how knowing Facebook can be of your own interests, and advertise them to you through a sales pitch just hoping you bite. And we all know the public’s fear of the NSA, yet both business and the NSA’s data collection method is incorporated to provide, or improve the American’s way of life; it be convenience in shopping, alerting customers of traffic on GPS, or preventing a terrorist
