Which is more important, a human or an animal? Will either species die out due to being hunted by the other? Trophy hunting should be illegal. It should be illegal because it can be harmful to endangered and these species should be protected properly. Not to mention it can be a cruel form of hunting and a cruel death.
To begin with, trophy hunting should not be legal because these animals should be protected. In fact, the New York Times article states that the Obama Administration has placed lions in Africa under the protection of the Endangered Species Act. Also, the Junior Scholastic article stated that more than one million people signed a petition asking Zimbabwe to stop issuing hunting permits to kill animals. The petition and being added to the Endangered Species Act goes to show that people want endangered animals protected.
The second reason as to why trophy hunting shouldn’t be legal is because the animals can could suffer a cruel death. In the junior scholastic article it states that a lion was shot with a crossbow, which wounded him. This would make it easier to hunt the lion. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) added West African lions to its list of critically endangered animals.” This evidence shows that endangered species, such as lions, are going extinct and trophy hunting is adding to this.
