In almost every story that has been read, there has been a character that is portrayed as a trickster; the way the trickster is shown differs from story to story. In the television series "Trickster" (produced by Streel Films), Wade commonly interacts with characters to directly impact the outcome of the story, whereas Nanabush from "The Rez Sisters" (by Tomson Highway) takes a much more backseat role, by observing the characters, interjecting when he must, and listening to trauma. Both characters are very important but affect the storyline very differently.
Throughout the stories, we see lots of sad events transpire, but this is done very differently. Within The Rez Sisters, Nanabush interacts with a character who has had an unfortunate backstory,

This is displayed excellently when Zhaboonigan is telling her tragic story to Nanabush in bird form. "Are you gentle? I was not little. Maybe. Same size as now. Long ago it must be? You think I'm funny? Shhh. I know who you are. There, there. Boys. White boys. Two. Ever nice white wings, you. I was walking down the road to the store. They ask me if I want ride in car. Oh, I was happy I said, ‘Yup.’ Took me far away. Ever nice ride. Dizzy. They took all my clothes off me. Put something up inside me here." (Highway 47) It is apparent that a horrible event has transpired, as highlighted by Zhaboonigan talking with Nanabush. It is not as apparent in the beginning of the story due to Nanabush not being very present, but later in the story when he is only interacting with characters that have experienced trauma or are experiencing trauma, it becomes more apparent.
