In the book Hoops, by Walter Deon Myers, there are small conflicts that are all apart of a main conflict. The main character Lonnie Jackson, faces conflicts involving his coach that he was prepared for. The main conflict Lonnie goes through is that coach Cal has a past of gambling, drinking, and is not a good mentor. Coach Cal went to someone in his past to fix the problems caused by his gambling. However, Cal let down Lonnie by not showing up to practice for three weeks after this happened. Lonnie got worried so he went to Cal’s wife to see if she knew where he was.
