When there is more knowledge within a society, there is a better understanding of life; the people within the society can understand each other without mishaps. Considering today’s society, the news presents different stories and tragedies each day. While some may not recognize, they still are reading the report off the screen. Some even go as far as using it as a teaching mechanism
No idea is more fundamental to Americans ' sense of ourselves as individuals and as a nation than freedom. The central term in our political vocabulary, freedom—or liberty, with which it is almost always used interchangeably—is deeply embedded in the record of our history and the language of everyday life. Before the readings and lectures in this module, I believed the major issues at stake regarding the understandings of American citizenship in the late 1800’s, had much to do with the written laws of the Federal and state government. Based from my previous knowledge, of the Women Suffrage Movement, to the freedom fighters, political and social figurative leaders, to lastly to civil rights, and citizenship, I my assumption of that, was based on written laws that white supremacists, and authoritative figures including the government followed, regardless of their feelings towards justice and equality.
The Civil War and the Birthright Citizenship in the American System: The Civil War began as a war to preserve or divide the Union. At its end four years later slavery was abolished and citizenship and voting rights were redefined. Abraham Lincoln 's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, the flight of slaves behind Union Army lines, and the adoption of the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in December 1865 abolished slavery forever.
A citizen of the United States is a person who was born in the U.S. Citizenship would come with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence. Citizenship can be lost if one tries to take away an inalienable right from another citizen. Slavery is a prime example of this when southerners take away black people's liberties by using them for labor. Before being readmitted into the Union, a state must abolish slavery. Blacks and newly freed slaves should not be allowed to vote as they are uneducated and are not capable of casting an intelligent vote.
The birthright citizenship has caused many problems for America. So, they country needs to take steps to help solve this problem. The next two years might be the best time to pass legislation like this because of the Republican control of the White House and Congress. They would do their country a favor if they abolished birthright citizenship because of all the damage it has done to America. The government needs to kill the incentive to break the law.
“Should American Citizenship Be a Birthright” is a debate about immigrants coming over and having kids to give them citizenship in the USA. Also, it is explained that if the country changes the 14th amendment it will not be right, because the USA is made up of immigrants. In Chavez, Linda’s article “The Case for Birthright Citizenship” it is explained how America’s citizenship policy is different than most countries.

The US citizenship test is required in Arizona to pass high school. It is required because they want students to have a good understanding of the American government. Some people agree with this and some disagree with this, but most people don’t really care. The people who agree with this want it to be required in more states. The people who disagree with this say the test does not have a lot of information on the American government, and there are many alternatives to the citizenship test.
Many immigrants coming to America in the early 1900s came for a better life. Getting a job at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company was highly desired due to the nice building in which the factory was located (Zwonitzer). Most immigrants, even those as young as fourteen, worked to earn money to support their families in the new country (Zwonitzer). Once the immigrants arrived in America they started working and many realized conditions were not always better than what they had left behind, and no matter how hard they worked, there was never enough money.
The right to allow immigrants that are legal citizens of the United States shall be allowed to become President of the United States. This Amendment needs to be part of the Supreme Law of The Land, since the United States allow all people to have the same rights as others. The United States should do the same for immigrants when it comes to being a candidate for president. This would allow immigrants to run for president and will be a massive accomplishment in the United States.
Immigrant rights and other people's rights are at risk when the government has the authority or power to deny legal rights. Immigrants, Migrant farm workers are in such a deep mess where they keep getting rejected in jobs. Cultural citizenship and cultural rights The concept of cultural citizenship has entered media policy discourse from the latter part of the 20th century and has been succinctly defined by Toby Miller as the right to 'know and speak' (Miller, 2006, pp35). To further elaborate on this, cultural citizenship differs from mono-cultural citizenship in its recognition of the validity of different cultural formations that are encapsulated within state boundaries, and guarantees their legitimacy. Cultural citizenship can be seen as a further addition to TH Marshall’s characterisation of citizenship as a cohort of political, civil and social rights. If political citizenship granted rights for participation and inclusion in the process of exercising power
