The US citizenship test is required in Arizona to pass high school. It is required because they want students to have a good understanding of the American government. Some people agree with this and some disagree with this, but most people don’t really care. The people who agree with this want it to be required in more states. The people who disagree with this say the test does not have a lot of information on the American government, and there are many alternatives to the citizenship test.

The citizenship test does not have a lot of information on the American government, and should only be used for its intended purpose. Most of the alternatives require more information to pass. Even if it were to be split into parts, the alternatives would still be more effective than the citizenship test. They are more effective because the test is only meant to cover the basics of the American government instead of information that is difficult to obtain outside of the US. The citizenship test does not have enough information to be taught over 4 years of high school. Most alternatives have information that can be taught for a few weeks each semester for 4 years. …show more content…

The parents of students are trying to change it, the students themselves, and other people not even involved with the schools. There are many people involved with the schools because every parent in Arizona is involved. One argument is that not even 12 states require a test about the American government, and none of them are the citizenship test. Arizona is the only state that requires the citizenship test to pass high school. Currently there are no laws in place and no one in control wants to change this.
