Today we will be taking the STAAR test. These few words are a nightmare for most students. They feel immense stress and anxiety with the unrealistic expectations this test puts on them. Students should not have to take this test to measure their academic achievements throughout their educational career. Standardized testing is inaccurate, causing students to fail by ineffectively grading students for real educational growth. Standardized testing causes stress, hunger, and tiredness, which hinders the ability of the child to concentrate on the test. A one-size-fits-all approach to standardized testing is unfair to students. For this reason, it does not account for many of the difficult challenges students go through daily. This test can be seen to account for all variables that a student might struggle with. The students taking the test can be faced with language deficiencies, difficult home lives, or varied educational backgrounds. When it comes down to the real problem of who needs to find a standardized solution, we need to look at Congress. It is time we hold them accountable and make them see the truth about this test. Congress needs to be pushed and see the effect this one test has on a child. They need to be shown that we can give students a good education even without this terrible and long test they make children take. This issue has been brought to the eyes of our government countless times and needs to be seriously looked at. Congress needs to clearly understand the desperate need for change concerning standardized testing. This type of testing is not beneficial in any aspect of the child's
