Odysseus, in The Odyssey by Homer, and I both demonstrate self-restraint. One time Odysseus shows self-discipline is when he’s in the cyclops’ cave and stabbed his eye. The cyclops “squatted in the breach with arms thrown wide for any silly man or beast that bolted” (907). Odysseus restrains himself from running the first time he sees a way out. Instead he stays back and plans for a better way out.
Watching the movie of Odyssey makes me realize of what great love is. Odyssey makes me realize that love is not much an inevitable ending as it is the beginning that will happen. It is what you do with what you begin that helps to determine your future. So we must design and pursue our destiny. We prove that promises is not made to be broken.
I choose Apollo his theme ’s are some what the same as zeus, but he has more drama. Apollo is the most beautiful god, god of light, the “most greek” god of all and plays music on his beautiful golden lyre. Apollo had many friends in his life and one theme is because of one of them. Do we get to choose our destiny or is fate inevitable? Is it black and white, choice or no choice, or some shade of gray? In Homer’s epic, “The Odyssey,” and William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies, we see both main characters, Odysseus and Ralph, being influenced by the archetypal mountain. Still, they react in different ways throughout their own stories.
To manipulate is to control or influence a person or situation cleverly or unfairly. Greek literature demonstrates the captivating theme of manipulation at best through the manipulation of mortals by gods and goddesses. Specifically, The Odyssey by Homer illustrates the various ways this theme is portrayed through the main character Odysseus by gods and goddesses who detest him on his journey home to his home, Ithaca. Further, these influences in his life change his fate, mainly as determinants. Evidently, one can see an instance where Odysseus’s fate is influenced for the worse where Poseidon, god of the sea, swears to make Odysseus’s trip home a living nightmare.
Loyalty and faithfulness are traits expected of all of mankind. They are virtues that embody the highest ideals of a modern day person. Even from the ancient Greeks, loyalty was demanded of human beings. However, back then, these traits weren’t expected from all. In Homer’s epic poem

In The Odyssey Odysseus takes a long journey, and Homer’s message about life is that while on “the journey” you will gain many traits and learn many things. Odysseus’ journey in returning home becomes a test to prove himself.
What is the central message of the odyssey? A central message of :”The Odyssey” is that fate is determined by the gods. Fate, the gods, and hospitality, are themes that fit very well with The Odyssey as well as the central message of the odyssey. There are examples from these things in the story.
The Odyssey and The Outliers portray that perseverance is essential to living a happy and successful life because conflicts are overcome and dreams are followed. Some will argue that overcoming conflicts does not take perseverance; However, in The Odyssey, after Odysseus and his men defeat the cyclops, Odysseus gives his men a pep talk to help encourage and inspire them. When Odysseus says, [“by courage, council and intelligence, we escape away”](210-211). He is reminding his men that they persevered through the trials they faced against the cyclops.
In spite of the fact that Homer’s Odyssey is an epic story of a man’s gallant journey, women play a huge part throughout. Their unique yet controversial personalities, intentions, and relationships are vital to the development of this epic and adventurous journey of Odysseus. The poem by Homer was written at a time when women had an inferior position in society, yet that didn’t stop them from being any less influential. All of the women throughout the Odyssey possess different qualities, but all of them help to define the role of the ideal woman.

In the Odyssey, Odysseus must descend by entering the land of the dead to complete his journey.
