Setbacks of this future Science and technology is an extensive part of our modern lives. What if we had all our technology taken away from us? Then, we were told that no one can be alone and you can't think on your own like in the story Anthem, by Ayn Rand. We wouldn't be able to read p, or choose where we wanted to work. In fact we would not have many of the great things we have today. For example, we would not have Kool-aid because Edwin Perkins invented Kool-aid on his own. We wouldn't be able to work in small groups. We wouldn't be able to learn from reading other people's works. All the inventions would have to get authorized by a council. We wouldn't get to pick what work force we wanted to be in. All of these rules would be a setback to our technologically advanced society. …show more content…

In Anthem, by Ayn Rand, the people aren't aloud to be alone. Not only that but everything has to be acknowledged corporately. The motto in Anthem even says "We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever."(Rand 19) This motto causes setbacks for them. Today many inventions happen while someone is trying to make something else or they didn't even have the intentions to invent something. This makes the progress for the people of Anthems society hard because they aren't aloud to work alone. When working together it's hard to agree on one idea if one person was opposed to the invention, then, they would move to the next
