The Shawshank Redemption In the usual text the Shawshank redemption directed by Frank Dorabont language features such as camera angles, lighting sound and dialogue shaped my response to the themes of corruption and control through power. Those language features can be clearly seen in the Isolation scene where. The warden threatens Andy. The Shawshank Redemption is a film about the corrupt prison system at the Shawshank Prison in America. The warden of the prison prioritises money and power our human need an even above innocence. Andy is an innocent man. When the warden discovers Andy’s innocence he puts him in isolation for a month to punish him because (as his accountant) is too valuable to let him go. There was a large amount of isolated music used in the movie. The soundtrack includes music from the country, folk, classical, and rhythm and blue genres, which are all considered to be a part of the founding roots of music. The sound of the movie can be considered relatively restrained, compared to the stories sentimentality, but that’s what seems to make it so successful, the crisp dialogue throughout makes up for any subtlety, and appears to be projected focus. Theme There are many of isolation inside Shawshank, from the large, enclosed recreation yard to the smaller work crews. The bars, strict schedules, sadistic, keepers and predatory sisters only add a sense to entrapment and suffocation to these layers of isolation. The power of hope more than anything else, drives the inmates at Shawshank and gives them the will to live. Shawshank blurs the line between the right and wrong and challenges the notion that isolating and reforming criminals will turn them into law-bidding citizens. Instead, the prison is a den of corrupting, greed, bribery, and money laundering. Everyone exploits the system for their own gain, from Red, who can smuggle anything into the prison, all the way up to the wardens, who profit from forced prison labour. The fact that Shawshank is as corrupt and tainted as the outside world further justifies Andy’s escape from a hypocritical, exploitative system that cares little for the prisoner’s lives or
